Is your irrigation ready for new sod?
Why COMAND soil? Most yards here are builder fill and native sand — not soil.
Builder fill and sandy native soil drain water in minutes and hold almost no nutrients. Under new sod, that means the rootzone dries out between waterings, fertilizer washes through, and thin or stressed areas can show while roots are still establishing.
COMAND is a composted soil builder that holds six times its weight in water, composted hot enough to destroy weed seeds and pathogens — the layer we add feeds your lawn without importing problems. Blending it into the top 6 inches adds organic matter and moisture-holding capacity to the rootzone before your sod is ever laid.
And timing is everything: once sod is down, soil can only be improved from the top — about a half-inch of dressing at a time, seasons apart, or the grass underneath smothers. Rebuilding a rootzone takes years on an established lawn. Before the sod goes down, it takes one day.
